  1. I think Auberge Resort group should take a place in the list and may rank high, their resorts in Mexico n CA are top notch

  2. I really like to stay at Mandarin Oriental, however I have only stayed with them in Bangkok, Taipei and KL.
Which MO is your favourite? The ones in Bodrum and Marrakesh look very good.

  3. Hi, I think there are few missing names from the list! Worth mentioning: Baccarat, Baglioni, Dusit, Gran Meliá, Quorvus Collection, Rocco Forte Hotels, Steigenberger, and Groups: Relais & Châteaux, Small Luxury Hotels, Leading Hotels of the World and last but not least: Design Hotels.
Thank you for the incredible reviews and lists that you put together. love it x

  4. I’m surprised &beyond isn’t on there, keen follower of Conde Nast and they featured heavily in their Top 50 2017 resorts and The Gold List of all time favourite CN resorts.

The list you have presented is amazing, it is now the basis of a lifetime bucket list!

Thank you so much for the source!

  5. Oetker is a wonderful group of hotels- Bristol Paris and Hotel du Cap Eden Roc in Cap D’Antibes are among the best in the world. Also, Dorchester hotels are top notch, especially the Beverly Hills Hotel, Bel Air, the redone Eden and the Maurice.

  6. This list is way off and is due for an update! I agree with the Top 3 (Aman, FS & St. Regis)

Hotel brands like Auberge is voted # 3 in Travel and Leisure list and Oetker Collection is # 2. I can’t even believe you didn’t list those in the top 44 brands.

  7. My Top 10 (As someone that’s been to the majority of these brands)

    1) Aman
    2) Four Seasons
    3) St. Regis
    4) Belmond
    5) One & Only
    6) Oberoi
    7) Taj Hotels
    8) Six Senses
    9) Rosewood
    10) Auberge / Oetker Collection (Tie)

  9. My Top 10:
    1. Aman
    2. Oetker Collection
    3. Six Senses
    4. Belmond
    5. Mandarin Oriental
    6. Auberge
    7. Four Seasons
    8. Soho House
    9. One&Only
    10. St. Regis

  10. I also think you should rank Kempinski in Top 15. It has some bad properties for example in China, but there are some absurdly good ones, like Ciragan Palace, Emerald Palace, San Clemente Palace, Villa Rossa, hotels in Cairo and many more.

  11. 1- Aman
    2- Belmond
    3- Oetker
    4- MO
5- The House Collective (The Upper House, The Middle house, etc)
6- La Réserve (Properties in France and in Switzerland)
    7- Rosewood
    8- One&Only
    9- Peninsula !!!
    10- Cheval Blanc
    11- Bulgari
    12- Six Senses

  12. It’s hard to say which one is the best for me because if find that the design and service for some the brand are better depending on which country you are in. I will say at this moment Four Seasons and Taj Hotels/Sri Lanka rocks when it comes to service for me. Haven’t had the chance to check out Six Senses, Aman or Soneva.

  13. Ritz-Carlton, Park Hyatt, Mandarin Oriental, Rosewood, Four Seasons, Waldorf Astoria, St Regis , Raffles, Regent , Capella, Jumeirah

  14. there should be some boutique hotels small but lux like villa243 jaipur india , it s 12 room property and very luxury with butler service ,and so personalized.

  15. I am surprised to find the Soneva Resorts down at spot # 13. I would have guessed that they would be high on the list. How did you rate them?

Without knowing it, I imagine that the order in which the different resorts appear in the survey, has to do with the price. Eg the 3 Soneva resorts are nor the cheapest. What´s your comment on that?

  16. Surprised Relais et Chateau not on your list! But great list nevertheless! Aman would top my list as well.

  17. I think the Leela Palaces, Hotels & Resorts are top notch too and need a mention here for true Indian hospitality!!!

  18. I love Ritz Carlton,Park Hyatt,Four Seasons,Rosewood,Mandarin Oriental,Waldorf Astoria,Capella,Bulgari. This idea is solely base on the hotel in east asia as their interior design and the standard of construction like facility and hardware are much much much more better than their counterparts in northern America and Europe. For instance, if you check the same brand like Ritz Carlton New York and Ritz Carlton Nanjing, you will find there is a huge gap between them especially when it comes to interior design, the size of the room as well as the different level of brand of hardware they are using.
